chemical substance database as a free app

Berlin - Whether at home or at work: Chemical substances we encounter at every turn. But often only experts know what's behind the complicated names of chemicals and substances can act like. The Institute of Occupational Safety of the German Social Accident Insurance (IFA) is, therefore, its chemical substance database GESTIS now as a free app for Apple and Android devices.

The offer is aimed primarily at those who have to do with health and safety at work. Useful the app is but for entirely different audiences: The DGUV ​​gives the example of the residents, the worries of an accident transporting hazardous materials, the students in search of chemical formulas, journalists in search of a scientific article or about the doctor in the diagnosis of perhaps due to hazardous chemical substances caused disease.
Since 1999, the IFA provides information on now to more than 8,500 agents in a free online chemical database. The one to one and now works as an app. It provides the latest information on safe handling of hazardous materials, their effect on humans, or for protective measures such as first aid measures.
